Wukong is a cruiser named after the Monkey King—one of the main mythological characters in Chinese culture. Sun Wukong is an immortal demon who acquired extraordinary powers after long years of wandering in the pursuit of spiritual perfection. His adventures are described in the Chinese classical novel "Journey to the West."

In World of Warships, the cruiser represents Pan-Asia at Tier VIII. She carries a combination of French artillery and Pan-Asian long-range deepwater torpedoes.
